Ronaldo eyes Bernabeu exit over ‘betrayal’
CRISTIANO RONALDO has let it be known he feels betrayed by Real Madrid, throwing his future at the Spanish club into doubt.
The 32-year-old was promised a new contract by Real president Florentino Perez after his barnstorming performance in last year’s Champions League final win over Juventus.
But Ronaldo — with 16 goals this season — says talks over a deal have stalled and claims Real did not back him sufficiently in July amid a tax fraud case, leaving him to consider a move.
Returning to Manchester United represents a romantic possibility for Ronaldo, although it is unclear if the club are willing to commit the astronomical figures required to sign him. The forward earns £350,000 a week at Real.
Paris Saint-Germain are also likely to show interest in the Portuguese, whose Real contract expires in 2021.
