‘Trash girl’ fights back
A SCHOOLGIRL who launched her own eco-mission has been branded ‘trash girl’ by bullies after picking up their rubbish.
But the taunts and abuse have made Nadia Sparkes even more determined to tidy up her neighbourhood.
The 12-year-old uses her bike basket to take home discarded bottles, cans, coffee cups and other litter she collects on her route to Hellesdon High School in Norwich – and she has already filled two recycling bins.
Nadia said: ‘I’m not going to stop doing the right thing because of them. And if they call me “trash girl” they can say it with respect – I’m doing something to protect the world they also live in.’
Mum, Paula, 41, said: ‘We are extremely proud of Nadia.’
