MPs rap Chicken King
‘ CHICKEN King’ Ranjit Boparan has been rapped by a parliamentary committee for sending gifts to MPs investigating one of his food companies.
The tycoon’s firm, 2 Sisters Food Group, sent £100 hampers filled with biscuits to members of the environment, food and rural affairs committee, which is probing claims of poor hygiene and food safety at 2 Sisters.
In a letter, committee chairman Neil Parish wrote to Boparan: ‘We consider the sending an unwarranted attempt to impugn the committee’s impartiality.’ The hampers were returned or given to charity, he said.
