Hair to the throne! Wills’ £180 buzzcut

- By George Odling

IT is a dilemma faced by many men – do you try to disguise a thinning head of hair or embrace it?

Prince William yesterday showed he has firmly chosen the latter, revealing a close-shaven look – his shortest haircut yet – on a visit to the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

But the buzzcut still set the prince back £180, it was claimed last night.

He is believed to have enlisted the help of Richard Ward, who has been cutting the Duchess of Cambridge’s hair for several years.

A source close to the hairdresser told The Sun that Mr Ward’s deputy Joey Wheeler cut the prince’s hair at a private meeting in Kensington Palace – after he was teased by Prince Harry about his receding hairline. The source told the paper: ‘Wills sought Richard’s advice, but it was Joey who was the one to visit the Palace and give him his new buzz cut.

‘The Prince got sick of being teased by Harry about going bald and this seemed like a practical solution — and one that should stop all the digs too.’

His new style is a long way from the floppy fringe of his youth.

Bookmakers William Hill are offering odds of /4 that he will keep the close crop for Prince Harry’s wedding in May – while punters can get odds of 1 /1 that he will follow in the footsteps of footballer Wayne Rooney, and opt for hair transplant instead.
