DORTMUND: WENGER HAS NO RESPECT
ARSENAL are embroiled in a bitter row with Borussia Dortmund over their £53million pursuit of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gunners were last night closing in on the Gabon international as it emerged the striker had been axed from the German side’s squad to face Hertha Berlin tonight. However, earlier in the day Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was branded disrespectful by Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc for comments made about potentially being a good fit at Arsenal. Zorc claimed the Frenchman should concentrate on his own players. In a thinly-veiled attack on Arsenal’s poor form Zorc said: ‘It is a lack of respect. We believe Arsene Wenger has enough to think about when it comes to the performances of his own players.’ Aubameyang is wanted to replace Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez who, according to Wenger, is set to complete his megamoney move to Manchester United in the next 24 hours. Sanchez arrived at London Colney for training but completed a session with the club’s development team ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Crystal Palace. Earlier, when pressed on whether Aubameyang’s character would fit in at Arsenal given his bad boy reputation, Wenger said: ‘Yes, because character can be a very positive note. Look at the achievements of a player during his career and usually, when a career has been positive, the character has been positive.’
