Royal reveal — Edward and his knobbly knees

-

FORGET about Prince William’s shaven head. What about Prince Edward’s knobbly knees?

The Earl of Wessex unveiled his legs this week when he played at the Cambridge University Real Tennis club to help raise funds for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. The Prince is a keen player who took up the game while a student at Cambridge, when he had to give up rugby because of a leg injury.

He intends to play every real tennis court in the world this year. Played on an indoor court, real tennis, often known as the sport of kings, dates from the 11th century and is something like a cross between lawn tennis, squash and chess — it is the game from which lawn tennis derived.

Edward, 53, met his wife Sophie Rhys-Jones when she organised his 1993 Real Tennis Challenge.
