Swedish club eyeing Hartlepool takeover
THE chairman of Ostersunds, the Swedish club who face Arsenal next month in the Europa League, is considering a takeover bid for troubled Hartlepool United. Daniel Kindberg has not made an official move but is weighing up whether to invest in the non-League side as part of a Swedish-British consortium. Hartlepool desperately need a buyer and, speaking to the Swedish press, Kindberg said: ‘Some people want me to buy a club — I will decide before January 24.’ He then confirmed the club in question is National League Hartlepool and continued: ‘If I decide that it sounds interesting, then I have to go into a due diligence process and if I decide to go for it then it’s just a case of a pure investment. ‘But football is about heart and passion, so I haven’t taken a stand about it yet. I know Hartlepool had a difficult economic development and I know it’s a small town. ‘They have very passionate fans who seem to have put up with a lot at their club.’ Kindberg also revealed he has held talks in the past about investing in Newcastle.
