Rod cuts house price by £1.5m

AS Sir Rod Stewart should know, the first cut is the deepest.

The star has had to take £1.55million off the asking price of his 25- acre Essex mansion. The singer, 73, had wanted £7.5million for the six-bedroom manor, Wood House, in Epping. Now, after 18 months on the market Sir Rod (pictured) is prepared to let it go for £5.95million. It comes with a stable block, swimming pool, tennis court, full-size football pitch and has a separate cottage for staff and guests.

And it seems he is very concerned about keeping up appearances.

His wife of ten years Penny Lancaster, 46, said: ‘Rod obsesses about keeping the house in order. We have a wonderful lifestyle. He always dresses for dinner – even if I just want to wear tracksuit bottoms, he dresses up.’
