Keep dancing — like Pan’s People star

- DEE DEE WILDE, Trowbridge, Wilts.

I AM delighted that 80-year-old Barbara Peters has passed her ballet exam with merit (Mail). It’s a great example to others that life isn’t over when you get your pension.

At 71, I still teach five days a week and perform with my group Pan’s Fans. It’s a far cry from my heady days in Pan’s People on Top Of The Pops in the Seventies, but I still love dancing and, healthwise, it is so beneficial.

I have been dancing all my life. I had my first lesson at the age of three, was a founder member of Pan’s People and then set up one of the most successful dance and rehearsal studios in London. When I moved to the West Country nine years ago, I started a dance club.

When we perform, we are sending the message that when you hit your 60s and 70s, you’re not over the hill.

Many of the women are on their own, so dancing provides companionship, along with physical and mental benefits.

I will dance for as long as I am able, hopefully well into my 80s like Barbara. She can join my group any time!
