LEAGUE ONE THIS WEEKEND
HEROES OF THE WEEK
BURY caretaker managers Ryan
Lowe and Ryan Kidd: It will take some doing if Bury are to stay up this season. Chris Lucketti was finally relieved of his duties last week after a run that had left Bury bottom of the table and more than 10 points from safety. Quite remarkable then that in their first game in charge, Lowe and Kidd managed to guide the side to a 2-1 win away at oxford. A long way to go but a good start.
ZERO OF THE WEEK
ROBBIE NEILSON (MK Dons boss): Sacked after just over a year in charge of MK Dons. The 2-1 defeat by Northampton was the end after only two wins in 17 games. He departs with a win percentage of 37.9 per cent and MK Dons in the relegation zone. former Preston boss Simon Grayson is an early front-runner to take over.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
RICHARD SMALLWOOD (Blackburn v
Fleetwood): The self-styled King of ewood isn’t known for goalscoring exploits, but the central midfielder struck a beautiful right-foot effort in the 83rd minute from outside the area to finish off fleetwood Town 2-1.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
GILLINGHAM boss Steve Lovell (third consecutive league win, 3-1 at Scunthorpe, moved them further from relegation zone): ‘It’s lovely, isn’t it? It’s our job, it’s what we do and we have to keep doing it.’
STAT OF THE WEEK
11 — League games without defeat for Wigan. A 3-1 away win against Plymouth maintained a five-point gap at the top of the table.
