HOGAN’S RUN

Having gone 16 matches without scoring, aston villa’s £12million striker Scott Hogan (right) now has four goals in three games and is brimming with confidence. Hogan’s two goals in villa’s 3-1 win over Barnsley came in the space of two minutes early on. ‘i’m delighted for him because there’s probably been some times where he’s had some dark moments,’ said villa boss Steve Bruce after they reignited their automatic promotion hopes.

WILSON BACK ON FORM

THERE was a time when James Wilson was Manchester United’s next great hope, but after two goals during the tenure of Ryan Giggs in 2014, the striker lost his way. His latest loan is with Sheffield United and Wilson needed just six minutes of his full debut to score in a 2-1 win at Norwich. ‘Hopefully he can help us to get to where we want to go,’ said United manager Chris Wilder.

BUSTED OVER BOTTLE

a MiddleSBrougH fan has been arrested for allegedly urinating in QPr keeper adam Smithies’s water bottle and throwing it back on to the pitch. a video on social media showed the incident, and fans on a forum suggested the bottle may have been taken earlier by a pitch invader. Cleveland police said on Twitter: ‘i can confirm the so called @Boro fan who urinated in the @QPrFC goalie bottle was arrested. disgusting act and i will do all i can to remove him from attending Boro games again.’

FULHAM STEAM AHEAD

FULHAM made a perfectly timed dart into the play-offs last season and there are signs Slavisa Jokanovic’s side will do likewise this time. A six-goal thrashing of Burton was their sixth match unbeaten and they are now just a point off sixth place. Their 17-year-old star Ryan Sessegnon scored twice and now has nine for the season. ‘We are where we are and must do everything to win points,’ said Jokanovic.
