David Bailey turns 80 with ciggies and supermodels

-

HE’S the man who helped get Sixties London swinging, leaving his first wife Rosemary for model Jean Shrimpton before waving goodbye to ‘The Shrimp’ in favour of French film star Catherine Deneuve, who became his second wife in 1965.

But yesterday, dressed in blue denim shirt, brown jacket, T-shirt and jeans, photographer David Bailey was the picture of rumpled contentment as he celebrated his 80th birthday at swanky West End private members’ club, Mark’s.

Cuddling up to him was fourth wife Catherine Dyer, 56, far right, whom he married in 1986 — a year after the end of his marriage to Marie Helvin.

East End-born Bailey, who once said he ‘wasn’t exactly a good boy’ in his youth — he had ‘four other girls on the go’ while he was with Shrimpton — found time to light up with Kate Moss, above. His smile suggests he’s revised his opinion of old age. The only good thing about it, he once said, ‘is that it doesn’t last very long’.
