KEEP the dishwasher shut until it has cooled to avoid microbes getting into the air, say scientists at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. They found bacteria including Pseudomonas and Escherichia, and the fungi Candida and Cryptococcus, inside dishwashers — all of which can cause infections. Wiping the rubber seal with a dry cloth at the end of a cycle can also limit build up.
