i PassED my driving test soon after my 18th birthday (Peterborough) and drove many accident-free miles during my years as a mechanic. My driving career ended just a few days after my 71st birthday when the cost of the insurance increased to nearly double the value of the car. as the only time i’d driven it in the past year was for its MoT, i sold it. What a mouthful is waiting for the insurance firms who come touting for my business — their inflated costs have forced me off the road. Pete Williams, Hayes, Middlesex.
