NEWCASTLE SIGN KENEDY IN LOAN DEAL

- By SIMON JONES, MATT BARLOW and LAURIE WHITWELL

CHELSEA winger Kenedy is joining Newcastle United on loan after the London club made a breakthrough in talks for Roma left back Emerson Palmieri. Kenedy (below) is travelling to the North East to link up with Rafa Benitez for the rest of the season while Chelsea press to finalise a potential £52million double deal for Palmieri and his Roma team-mate Edin Dzeko. Sportsmail revealed last month that Newcastle had an agreement with Chelsea for 21-year-old Kenedy but he would only be allowed to move on the condition Chelsea found a replacement. Palmieri, 23, is valued at around £23m by Roma and he is expected at Stamford Bridge within 24 hours, while Chelsea coach Antonio Conte is understood to have contacted striker Dzeko to assure him he will be an important part of his plans. Former Manchester City striker Dzeko turns 32 in March and Chelsea will have to ignore their policy over contracts for over 30s to push the deal through. The Bosnia international is under contract at Roma until 2020 and will expect similar terms at Stamford Bridge. Roma need to raise £36.7m to meet Financial Fair Play

requirements.
