Moyes crisis as star duo out for weeks

Arnautovic and Lanzini woe

WEST HAM are facing an injury crisis with Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic the latest to suffer hamstring problems.

Manager David Moyes feels he has had to navigate his way through a hectic schedule with a small squad and was already frustrated at a lack of January signings.

The news of his star duo being sidelined comes as a huge blow with their next three Premier League games against direct relegation rivals.

Lanzini was forced off during their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth at the weekend and is set to be out for more than a month.

He has been joined by Arnautovic who is likely to be out for at least two weeks and will face further tests. Fatigue is believed to have played a big part in both players’ injuries and they join Andy Carroll, Michail Antonio and Diafra Sakho on the sidelines.

West Ham play Wigan in the FA Cup on Saturday, then have Premier League games with Crystal Palace, Brighton and Watford. The loss of Lanzini and Arnautovic will reinforce Moyes’s belief that he can’t afford to sell anyone, with Javier Hernandez looking to leave.

The Mexican’s agent, Eduardo Hernandez, told Fox Sports yesterday: ‘There are a number of clubs interested in his services.

‘Javier has asked for a club in which he can play the most games possible. He’s demanded we look for a club that needs a player with his characteristics because what he wants is to play and play and play.’

West Ham will refuse any requests from their striker to leave, with his contract running until 2020.

In an attempt to strengthen, the club have held further talks about a loan for Inter Milan’s attacking midfielder Joao Mario, 25.
