ACCOMMODAT­ION website Hostelworl­d perked up after toasting a surge in demand.

The group said its bookings were up 6pc in the year to the end of December, despite the growth being slightly more skewed to the first half.

Its mobile business had made ‘good progress’ during the period, with the division now representi­ng over 54pc of its bookings for the year.

Feargal Mooney, chief executive, said the group had cut marketing costs. Shares rose 2.2pc, or 7.5p, to 368p.
