Mum’s phone snap captures Robert the Bruce ‘levitating’
THEY say it was a miracle that t he hammered the English at t Bannockburn.
But if this picture is to be e believed, Robert the Bruce is at t it again – floating off into the e sky on his charger.
The extraordinary image was captured by mother-of-two Marisa Braithwaite on her r phone on a snowy Sunday – and d there’s the clue to the magical l shot. The statue appears to be e flying because of some lucky y lighting and a layer of the white e stuff on the top of the plinth h blending in with the clouds.
The bronze Bannockburn n Memorial in Stirling depicts an axe-wielding Bruce on his war horse. It was created using the e measurements of Bruce’s skull, , re-discovered at Dunfermline e Abbey in 1818, and was unveiled d by the Queen in 1964.
Miss Braithwaite, 8, posted d the image on Facebook and it has attracted more than 20,000 views. It is so convincing some even claimed the snap was photoshopped. She said she’d been ‘overwhelmed’ by the interest shown from around the world. Robert the Bruce was King of the Scots in the 14th century and led his troops to a famous victory against Edward II at Bannockburn in 1 14 despite being outnumbered two-to-one.
