Daily Mail COMMENT

-

TIME was when the Conservatives were the party of common sense and real-world pragmatism that eschewed the dafter precepts of political correctness and gesture politics so beloved by liberals and luvvies. Sadly, no more. The refusal by the ludicrously-dubbed minister for loneliness Tracey Crouch to appear on the Today programme because she objects to comments made by John Humphrys – in private – about the ‘gender pay gap’ might embarrass even the Lib Dems. That other ‘Conservatives’ appear to back her speaks volumes about how out of touch the party is becoming from its core voters.

Forgive the Mail for cynicism, but is the truth that Miss Crouch is really scared of being interviewed by Humphrys, who remains the BBC’s most forensically brilliant interviewer?

The Mail has a message for Miss Crouch: Grow up and start worrying about real problems – like the fact that politicians waste far too much taxpayers’ money on fatuous projects.
