All panes bright and beautiful -- I hope!

- G. Bell, Eastleigh, Hants. email: pboro@dailymail.co.uk

Cleaned the windows inside and out A job and a half without a doubt But I’ll have to wait for the evening sun To see how good a job I’ve done. They looked all right in the noon day sky When I washed them, rinsed them and buffed them dry, But I’ll never really know for sure How well I’ve performed my little chore. Until the light begins to fall Then we’ll know once and for all Whether I’ve honoured every pane Or laboured grimly and in vain. I’ve scrubbed each godforsaken piece With vinegar, paper and elbow grease, But have I toiled to great renown Or merely moved the muck around? For when the orb drops in the sky It casts an unforgiving eye, The dying rays will soon appear, And uncover every stain and smear. As I contemplate my fate All I can do is sit and wait. Wait until the evening sun Tells me what sort of job I’ve done.
