Louis Vuitton’s £3,000 watch

-

A SMARTWATCH costing £3,000 has helped Louis Vuitton owner LVMH rake in record sales.

The world’s biggest luxury goods maker said sales jumped 12pc last year to reach £37.3bn as the Chinese snapped up pricey leather handbags and expensive watches, such as the Tambour, which sells for up to £2,735.

The watch’s biggest selling point for the Chinese is that if they buy it in Paris, for example, it will reboot with the local time and operating system once they get back home.

LVMH said its sales were boosted by the integration of Christian Dior last year, which has seen it benefit from Dior’s beauty and perfume businesses.
