Energy supplier shuts

reGIONAL supplier Future energy has ceased trading, Ofgem said.

The regulator assured the company’s 10,000 domestic customers, who are mainly in the North east and Yorkshire, that their energy supply will continue as normal and outstanding credit balances will be protected.

Ofgem said it would choose a new supplier to take on the customers who they advised should take a meter reading and wait until their new supplier makes contact.

Citizens Advice director of energy Victoria MacGregor said: ‘It’s important customers sit tight and wait for Ofgem to organise the new supplier. switching could mean they don’t get refunds they may be entitled to.’
