MY WEEK

-

WHAT I’VE BEEN UP TO...

PLENTY of birthdays around the club in the last few days, not least my own when I turned 30-something. We’ll leave the number at that. It is tradition to bring in cakes for the lads but this was not known to Tom Edwards, one of our defenders, and on Monday I sent a message on our WhatsApp group, explaining that the youngest lad (Tom) had to buy cakes on behalf of the oldest (me). Poor Tom! The best cakes of the week came from Ramadan Sobhi. Usually the lads will just pick up a few boxes of Dunkin Donuts but his mum went to the trouble of baking some traditional Egyptian cakes. A great gesture and they were tremendous.

WHOHAS WHO HAS CAUGHT MY EYE... PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG

The biggest signing of deadline day, he has always struck me as being lightning fast and world class. It’ll be fascinating to see how Aubameyang (above) gets on at Arsenal.

NEXT UP FOR ME...

BOURNEMOUTH, Brighton, a parents’ evening, a swimming gala, a hockey match and a singing competition!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO...

THE NIGHT CAFE (below) are a quality band from Liverpool. A lot of people will know Mixed Signals from TV’s The Inbetweeners, but Felicity is the one I have got on repeat.
