Clarifications & corrections
FOLLOWING An article on 27 november 2017 (‘Revealed: cut-price ambulance crews sent on 999 calls’) we have been asked to make clear that whilst ambulance technicians are paid less and undertake shorter training, they are qualified to respond to 999 calls in most cases, can carry out many of the same tasks as paramedics – including using some ECG heart monitors and inserting supraglottal tubes – and have been used for many years. we regret if any contrary impression was given.
