Tax probe quiz for F1’s Bernie

-

EX-FORMULA One tycoon Bernie Ecclestone has been quizzed by tax officials as part of a £1billion probe over an offshore family trust, it was reported yesterday.

The billionaire, pictured, was reportedly interviewed under caution at a London police station.

His daughter Tamara, 33, was also questioned at the same time at the London HQ of HM Revenue and Customs. Ecclestone, 87, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and there is no suggestion he or his family have broken tax laws. However, a source told The Sun on Sunday the latest development ‘signals a significant move by HMRC’.

The dispute centres on the so- called ‘Bambino Trust’ for Ecclestone’s former wife Slavica and their socialite daughters Tamara and Petra. As a UK resident he is not allowed to control the fund.

The tycoon did not respond to a request for comment yesterday.
