Swan song

MY WALKS along the Wyrley & Essington canal have been enhanced by a family of swans.

I have seen six cygnets grow into magnificent cobs and pens. Feeding these wonderful birds, who are unfazed by humans, you see them close up, while the ducks and moorhens keep their distance.

Over the past few months, the family has shrunk as, one by one, the youngsters have moved on.

There is only one left with its parents, but in time a new family will emerge to grace the waterways of the Black Country. TONY LEVY, Wednesfield, W. Mids.
