Betts scoffs at critics after Dean’s double
WIDNES coach Denis Betts hailed Chris Dean after the forward’s brace sent a message to his side’s critics. Many pundits tipped the Vikings to finish bottom of the Super League table, but after yesterday’s victory Betts believes his squad will continue to prove their doubters wrong. ‘We’re the only group who thinks we can do anything this year,’ said Betts, whose team’s other tries came from Joe Mellor, Krisnan Inu, Patrick Ah Van, Charly Runciman and Stefan Marsh. ‘We’ve got a good group. It justifies the targets we’ve set ourselves. Chris Dean showed us what we missed last year, a back-rower who can be destructive and quick.’
