Boxing in fight to retain status as Olympic sport

Boxing could be knocked out of the 2020 Tokyo olympics if issues with the finances and governance of the sport are not resolved. Ahead of next week’s Winter olympics, the international olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said he was ‘extremely worried’ about how boxing was being run. Bach, who insists the ioC is not afraid to make bold decisions said: ‘The ioC reserves the right to review the inclusion of boxing in the programs of the Youth olympics 2018 and Tokyo 2020.’
