1960s British invention

-

Quorn was developed in the 1960s by British scientists amid fears of food shortages.

Launched in 1985 by Marlow Foods, the brand is now owned by Filipino firm Monde Nissin.

Four billion products using Quorn have been sold.

There are more than 100 in the range, including fishless fingers, sausages and schnitzel.

Quorn is made from a soil fungus and grown using fermentation – a process similar to making beer or yoghurt.

It’s been endorsed by Olympians Sir Mo Farah and Adam Peaty.
