Trinny’s new make-up line blows £800k in first year

-

TRINNY Woodall’s beauty company is being propped up by a host of wealthy and well- connected backers, it can be revealed.

The girlfriend of moneybags art collector Charles saatchi launched her make- up business, Trinny london, in a blaze of publicity last year, but setting it up has meant she has already lost almost £800,000.

The company is being kept in the black by investors, who have poured in almost £2.7million.

Backers include a combination of heavyweight financiers, such as fund manager olaf siedler, investment banker Ramzi Youssef Rishani along with multinational company Unilever. Trinny, 53, is the biggest shareholder and former ad exec saatchi, 74, also has shares.

The brand went on sale last october and the newly released accounts cover the 12 months to the end of March 2017 as Woodall prepared for launch.

They reveal that shareholders had stumped up £2.66 million, but also state that almost £800,000 had gone in losses, leaving a balance of just under £1.9million. Trinny made her

name as the bossy stylist in TV’s What Not To Wear, with Susannah Constantine.

But she is re-inventing herself as a beauty ‘guru’ with her new range of 56 products, from eyeshadows to foundations. Trinny — who has a daughter and a stepson by her late husband, Johnny Elichaoff — spoke about Saatchi’s involvement in the company at the weekend.

‘Charles put four per cent investment into my business,’ she said. ‘The rest I got by going to financial backers and people in the cosmetics industry. I don’t spend as much money these days because I don’t have as much.’
