FRIENDS

I sent my friend a card today, I send one every year. Although she’s many miles away, Our friendship still holds dear. Memories shared from childhood, Innocent, artless and free, Before reality found us And adults we had to be. We all have a list of special folk Who somehow shape our days, And friends are a gift that can change your life In very many ways. Pals and chums and workmates Are a pleasure to be with, But constant friends are precious For the loyalty that they give. Our paths have crossed at some point And formed a significant link That’s turned into a bond That’s more steadfast than you think. Some encounters last a lifetime, Some are fleeting and just passing through, But the years don’t impair the memories of The friends who are good and true. Margaret A. Mattison, Cawood, N. Yorks.
