BUST FIRM’S AUCTION

-

THE ex-owner of bust Monarch Airlines is circling the remains of Carillion.

Private equity fund Greybull Capital could snap up some of the bankrupt builder’s assets if there is an auction, it is understood.

Carillion went into compulsory liquidation last month with a pension deficit of £587m and debts of more than £3bn including around £1.3bn owed to banks. It is unclear whether it has many assets to sell, as it outsourced most of its work and leased most of its equipment. But Greybull is thought to be one of several firms who have been contacted to gauge interest in Carillion’s assets.
