Athletics World Cup will have to fight for viewers
THE Athletics World Cup can thrive despite clashing with the finals of Wimbledon and the football World Cup, insist the sport’s chiefs. The two-day event at the London Stadium was confirmed yesterday, with Britain lining up on July 14-15 against USA, Jamaica, Poland, China, Germany, France and South Africa. UK Athletics chairman Richard Bowker said: ‘It’s a busy weekend but we aren’t worried. It’s an exciting event, part of an excellent sporting weekend.’
