EVERY week, Money Mail receives hundreds of your letters and emails about our stories. Here are some from our report revealing salesmen are being offered up to £50,000 commission to convince homeowners to install smart meters . . . I HAVE nothing against people earning a living, but those who get the bulk of their income from commission are unlikely to have your best interests at heart. C. G., Gloucester. I WILL be leaving my energy company when my contract ends, as it keeps trying to push a smart meter on me. I have told it twice I don’t want one. The phone calls are relentless — it won’t give up. T. S., Southport, Merseyside. I DON’T understand why people get upset about smart meters — say no if you don’t want one. We have one and it has changed our habits. We have switched to more energy-efficient appliances and now use them more sparingly. Our bills are lower, yet we haven’t noticed a difference to our lives. M. M., Barnsley, S. Yorks. I CAN’T see how smart meters are the digital energy ‘revolution’ the big suppliers claim they are. It’s debatable how effective they are and there are even concerns they may be bad for our health. M. K., Dartford, Kent. I HAVE a sign saying ‘no sales or service calls’ — it works. I never buy at the door. If I want something, I will go and get it myself. A. N., Kildare, Co. Kildare.
