Is there anything Madonna won’t take a stab at?
SHE has always had a penchant for the weird and wonderful. But even by Madonna’s standards, this looks weirder than most.
The 59-year-old has revealed her latest beauty treatment – a facial where her skin is massaged with fork-like prongs. In a video clip posted on Instagram, she claims that the treatment, called a microcurrent facial, repairs skin and stimulates collagen.
Adding a ‘filter’ which gives her a virtual fringe and a cartoonish blue hair bow in the footage, Madonna explained: ‘I’m just getting a facial right now from an aesthetician. OK, her name is Skillets and she’s really good at doing facials when I’m wearing my hair in bangs with a bow tie on my head. I just say, “Work around it Skillets”, and she does. I don’t know how she gets those tools under the hair but she does it.
‘It’s amazing, look at this little facial happening with a fork. Forks are really good, they tighten the skin. Have you tightened your face with a fork?’
Then, alarmingly, she asks: ‘Have you ever stabbed someone with a fork? I’ve done both. Anyway, it’s crazy.’
In the video, the singer’s beautician is seen rubbing the forks along her cheeks and then prodding the ends under her eyes. The facials are designed to plump up the skin by stimulating cells to fix themselves. Known as a ‘workout for the skin’, the forks emit low-voltage electrical currents which can supposedly repair damage as well as boost collagen and elastin production. Former Friends star Jennifer Aniston, 48, is also a fan. Most practitioners recommend a ten-treatment course for around £100 a session. Last year, Madonna launched her own luxury skin care line which included a £158 face mask.
