Suicide riddle of Weinstein accuser’s agent
A HOLLYWOOD agent embroiled in the Harvey Weinstein scandal has committed suicide.
Jill Messick, 50, once managed actress Rose McGowan, who has claimed she was raped by the movie mogul in 1997.
A book published 11 days ago by Miss McGowan claimed Miss Messick did not give her any support after she confided in her about the alleged rape.
In a statement, Miss Messick’s family criticised Miss McGowan’s ‘inaccurate accusations and insinuations’, and added: ‘Seeing her name in headlines again and again ... devastating for her.’
The family described the claims as ‘ironic’ and said Miss Messick was ‘the first person who stood up on Rose’s behalf’.
Neither Miss McGowan nor Weinstein have commented on Miss Messick’s death or her family’s statement.
