We’re pals now, says C4 boss who axed Vorderman

SHE was blamed for Carol Vorderman’s exit from Countdown after making the TV presenter take a 90 per cent pay cut and allegedly telling her: ‘Countdown survived without Richard Whiteley, it can survive without you.’

Now former Channel 4 boss Helen Warner claims she and Vorderman, 57, have buried the hatchet. ‘I got a lot of flak over that issue, it was awful,’ Helen told me at the launch of her novel The Story Of Our Lives.

‘Things were strained between Carol and me because of it and everybody was jumping on the bandwagon saying it was a female on female bitchy thing.

‘But we are now really good friends again. She is such a gorgeous, talented clever woman. Telly is full of lovely, nice friendly people, it’s not like people think.’ Yeah, pull the other one.
