Oil shutdown hits trade

-

THE shutdown of an oil and gas pipeline has pushed up the UK’s trade deficit.

Britain imported £10.8bn more goods and services than it exported in the final three months of 2017 – a gap £3.8bn bigger than in the previous quarter.

It was driven by a £1.2bn jump in oil imports when a crack found in the Forties North Sea pipeline saw it closed for three weeks.
