TONY BLAIR may be leading the call to scupper Brexit, but he hasn’t convinced even his own die-hard supporters.

Lord Grocott, a former parliamentary aide to Blair, said in the Lords last week: ‘There is no polite or popular way for me to say this, but there is an elephant in this room. It is the colossal mismatch between the balance of opinion here . . . and the balance of opinion in the country at large.

‘When I go home at weekends, people do not say, “I made a dreadful mistake, I voted Leave”; they say, “Why aren’t you getting on with it?”’
