Has fracking boom been overhyped?

-

CLAIMS that England and Wales would experience a fracking boom were oversold, a report has revealed.

The Cabinet Office document said it expected just 155 shale gas wells to be drilled by 2025. Previous estimates were that fracking could see 4,000 wells drilled by 2032.

But the Implementation Unit Report On Shale Gas, uncovered by Greenpeace, found planning rules and falling gas prices meant the claims were unlikely to be met.

Caroline Lucas, co-leader of the Green Party, said: ‘This is further evidence the fracking industry is doomed.’
