Hand it to Joan
I AM pleased I am in the eminent company of Joan Collins in refusing to shake hands, hug and kiss friends, family and acquaintances (Mail).
Like her, I use disinfectant wipes to swab every hard surface in sight when out and about in the flu season and use tape to seal the air duct when on a plane. A mask is a must for the GP’s waiting room, and I have a fresh wipe at the ready for any doors and loo handles I encounter.
Yes, I get some funny looks, but with a compromised immune system I really don’t care how strange it seems to others.
At a drinks party on a cruise, guests were politely informed that neither the captain nor any of his officers would be shaking hands as this was the prime culprit in spreading germs.
I wonder if the hijab offers similar, if inadvertent, protection against viruses as wearing a face mask?
