Do tell ’em, Pike
NOT wishing to disturb other passengers by having a loud conversation (Mail), my late husband and I would always whisper our occasional comments when travelling by train. One day on the Tube, a familiar person sat down opposite us.
I nudged my husband and he whispered an affirmative after a quick look. Sneaking a glance across the carriage, I found Ian Lavender, Private Pike in Dad’s Army, trying his hardest not to laugh as he’d obviously understood what we’d said and appreciated being left alone. All we exchanged were smiles. AUDREY GRACE MORSE,
