A HOT BATH OR SHOWER
THERE’S nothing like a hot shower or bath — but turning up the temperature can be bad news for your skin as it can compromise its barrier function, which stops irritants and allergens getting in and moisture getting out. ‘Hot baths and showers literally strip all the protective oils from your skin, which dries it out,’ says dermatologist Dr Nick Lowe, ‘and if you’re prone to conditions such as eczema and rosacea, it can exacerbate them.’
