Today’s poem

WORLDLY WISE

-

Our world, no doubt, will spin along Within the universe, Turn from day to night, and night to day, And birth and death will meet and dance As they have ever done, No matter what we do, or think, or say. Oceans, aye, will ebb and flow And mountains rise and fall. Stars will shine and moons will wax and wane. Though powers and presidents and popes, Dictators, queens and kings, Strive to wrest control, ’tis all in vain. For Man is as a speck of chaff Whirled in the winds of time, And where he’ll come to rest, no one may tell. We can but seize each moment As it journeys through our lives, And, knowing it is precious, use it well. Tricia Sturgeon, Mundesley, norfolk.
