Cyber claims ‘Russophobic’
THE Kremlin has labelled Britain ‘Russophobic’ after being accused of being behind a cyber attack last summer.
The Foreign Office said the Russian military unleashed the ‘NotPetya’ attack, which hit computers at firms including British advertising group WPP and US pharmaceutical giant Merck.
A Moscow spokesman said the accusations were groundless and part of a ‘Russophobic campaign that is not based on any evidence’.
Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said the virus, which demanded a ransom of 300 US dollars per computer to cease, was more evidence of a ‘new era of warfare’.
