PUEL: DEADLY VARDY MY BIG GAME HUNTER

- LAURIE WHITWELL

CLAUDE PUEL has hailed Jamie Vardy for becoming the first player to score against all the Premier League’s big six teams in a single season. Since entering the top flight Vardy has 23 goals in 43 games against Manchester City, United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal — more than any other player in that time. ‘These goals against the great teams show his motivation and also his level,’ said Puel. ‘But he is not finished. ‘He gives always his best in the games. For example against Manchester City — one ball was enough to score. ‘He is an example to young people because he believes in himself and his quality. Against difficulties he gives always a good response.’ Vardy is determined to play in the FA Cup tonight against Sheffield United, having grown up a Wednesday fan. Kick-off: 7.45pm, King Power Stadium. Radio: LIVE on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra.
