A U.S. judge has ruled that Taylor Swift did not plagiarise the lyrics for her hit single Shake It Off. The memorable lines ‘Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play / And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate’ were declared too ‘banal’ and lacking ‘the modicum of originality and creativity’ required to be protected. The song still sold 9 million copies.
