I feared that I’d die says drain survivor
A MAN who plunged down a drain and spent over a day underground feared he was going to die.
David Miller, who injured his legs and feet, had been on his way to the chemist when he fell. ‘All I remember is a big bang and then darkness,’ the 48-year-old recalled.
He had left home in Barking, Essex, on Wednesday last week but ended up crawling six miles in a surface water drain to Romford. He was rescued after people heard his cries from a manhole cover.
His friend Anthony Shannon, 44, said: ‘He thought he would die.’ Thames Water is investigating.
