Cash machine record

RECORD sums were withdrawn from cash machines last year. Bank customers withdrew £129.7bn from machines owned by another operator using a transfer scheme called Link. It will pile pressure on Link to rethink a cut to the fees that banks pay when one of their cardholders takes money out from an independent operator’s ATM. This fee cut was agreed after pressure from lenders trying to maximise their profits.
