Camilla steps in to help calm Meghan’s pre-wedding jitters

- By Sian Boyle

WITH her marriage to Harry just weeks away, some pre-wedding nerves are understandable.

So who better for Meghan Markle to turn to than another divorcee to marry into the Royal Family.

Camilla is said to have stepped in to calm the US actress’s fears – with the Duchess of Cornwall inviting the brideto-be for lunch at Clarence House.

‘Camilla told Meghan to get herself to Clarence House so they could have a good long chat’, a source told The Mail on Sunday.

‘The aim was for Meghan to air any worries or grievances and for Camilla to help alleviate them.

‘ Meghan may appear confident when on royal walkabouts, but she does have some pre-wedding butterflies - not about Harry, but about her new life.’

Miss Markle, star of legal drama Suits, moved to London last year to be

with 33-year-old Harry before they got engaged in November.

But she is said to be finding it difficult being constrained to life in Kensington Palace.

While the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be friends with Miss Markle, they are preoccupied with their two children – and have a third due in April.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: ‘As Diana once famously said, there is no manual, so Camilla is the best thing Meghan has. KP is beautiful, but when Meghan wakes up she has nowhere to go, really. She is confined to yoga at home or visits to Kate and William in Apartment 1A.’

The Duchess of Cornwall, who married Prince Charles in 2005, also took Kate under her wing before her wedding to William in 2011, taking her out for lunch near Kensington Palace.

US national Miss Markle will be baptised into the Church of England before her wedding, which is on the same day as the FA Cup Final.

The Government is now urging councils to waive road-closure charges for those planning to celebrate the royal wedding with patriotic street parties.

Harry has been offered a leadership role in the Commonwealth to make it more relevant to young people. The prince is expected to formally accept a role at April’s Heads of Government Meeting, where a source said he would be ‘very visible’.
